I had no clue she was going to make it with my ground beef tacos the very next day. She’s loved my Best Chili Recipe, My Yasss Best Meatloaf Recipe, Peruvian fried Rice, Sweet Potato Pie and my Salisbury Steak so I knew she would like the taco seasoning.

They’re now some of her go-to recipes!  My sister can cook her butt off.  She knows good food! I cant’ wait to share some of her recipes with you!

TACO SEASONING

My sister hit me up in google chat. Her exact words,”I made the taco seasoning and the beef tacos. They were good as hell!”  She had two tacos, her hubby ate several and her 10 yr old daughter had four. Her toddler had none.

She thinks tacos are “yucky.” Kids, I tell ya. Anyway, that was my sister’s first time making taco seasoning and she won’t be buying the store kind anymore either.

Since my family and my sister’s family love this recipe, I figured I’d share it with you. I hope you like it!

HOW TO MAKE IT

Ground beef taco seasoning is super easy to make. It can be made in 5 minutes or less. The ingredients include chili powder, cumin, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, oregano, crushed red peppers, a bit of sugar, salt and pepper. It’s right in the middle of mild and bold flavored. It’s definitely flavorful though.

You can omit the salt, if you want to have to have more control over it. Add all of the ingredients into a small bowl and mix well then store in an air tight container until you are ready to use it. Easy right?

Have you ever read the ingredients on the back of the taco seasoning packets from the store?  I found an old dusty taco mix packet hidden in the back of my cabinet. FYI, the ingredients on the packet were a bit scary.

It contained a lot of preservatives and other ingredients I could barely pronounce.  I’ll never go back to that premade packet stuff.  Homemade is much healthier, easier and tastier.

I noticed a lot of recipes for taco mix says one packet of taco seasoning is equal to two tablespoons. This ground beef taco recipe makes about 4 tablespoons.

Feel free to use two tablespoons or more if you like, however, two tablespoons wasn’t enough for me.

The ground beef had superb flavor. My recipe tester sis and her family had no complaints.

TIPS TO MAKE  IT

The measurements are to be used with about 1 lb of ground beef. You can use two tablespoons which is said to be the equivalent to pre-made packets, however I found that 2 tbsp wasn't enough so I always use all of it. This recipe makes about 3 1/2 tablespoons
Use 2 tbsp or more of the taco seasoning depending on your preference but I think it tastes amazing if you add all of it. FYI, updated recipe doesn't have any crushed red peppers but feel free to add a bit it you like.
