Thin, flaky and buttery crust with a spicy meat filling. Make a big batch because these Jamaican beef patties will disappear fast! This recipe has been updated to make it super easy for you to make and contains all staple ingredients which you probably already have. If you want to make the original recipe, you can find it HERE.
I remember as a child, my siblings and I went to a party across the street from me and that was the first time I had homemade Jamaican beef patties. They were delicious. Every since then, I have been in love with them. In the past I would buy them from Jamaican restaurants or the supermarket. These days I make them homemade.
Make sure you use homemade crust and not the store bought ones. You won’t achieve the same flaky crust with the store brands. This dough recipe will make a seriously delicious buttery flaky crust. Just look at the photo below. I ate 5 of these in a row. Terrible. They are that good! If you aren’t a fan a spicy food, leave out the pepper or use half of the peppers and remove the seeds.
If you are not a fan of curry then this recipe may not be for you. You can probably leave out the curry or add whatever seasonings you like but I think you will love it in this recipe.
Quick tip: If you are not experienced with dough you can purchase an empanada maker. It makes perfect neat patties fast. I didn’t have one when I made these patties but I ended up buying one because. I was able to make my patties so much faster and neater. I purchased this ONE.
This recipe can also be substituted with Chicken, pork, sausage, etc.
