Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp Corn or vegetable oil
  • 1 lb ground beef 80-85% ground beef
  • 1/4 cup red onions diced small
  • 2 tbs green onions thinly sliced

Sweet Chili Sauce

  • 1 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce I used Panda Express
  • 1 1/2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp fish sauce
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar or apple cider works too
  • 1 tsp ginger fresh minced ginger
  • 4 tsp garlic fresh minced
  • garlic, and onion powder For taste. I only used a pinch or two of each
  • crushed red pepper for taste. I used about 1/4 tsp

Instructions

  • In a large skillet, add the corn oil. Once hot, fry the ground beef, onions, ginger and garlic breaking it into crumbles until browned and no longer pink. *See notes
  • In a small bowl, add the sweet chili sauce and the rest of the sauce ingredients. Whisk. Pour the mixture over the ground beef and simmer for a couple of minutes. Serve over white or fried rice.
  • Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds if you like. I added some shredded carrots for a pop of color.

Notes

FYI, you don't have to worry too much about breaking the hamburger meat into small crumbles. I actually prefer bigger crumbles but my kids likes them smaller, so do as you please.
If you’d like to pack some more veggies into your beef and rice, you could serve it alongside:
Sweet chili Sauce: This recipe is pretty saucy. Even if you like a lot of sauce, I suggest adding about 1/2 cup then increase as needed. If you want to try your hand at a homemade you're in luck. Here's my recipe.  I used this sauce Panda Express Sweet Chili Sauce
Sliced cucumbers or carrots
Cabbage: Ground beef and cabbage tastes AMAZING together. If you have some that you need to use up, try adding it to this hamburger stir fry or any stir fry really. Thank me later!
Steamed broccoli or cauliflower
Baby bok choy: (no pan or wok needed. Just pop it into the microwave for a few mins and it will keep it's bright green color). You can also toss in some broccoli. However it may take a bit longer to cook.
