Maple Syrup Cranberry Sauce

This maple syrup cranberry sauce is made with maple syrup, fresh cranberries, orange juice & vanilla. It's easy and way better than canned cranberry sauce. Cooking the cranberries on medium results in a nice, thick, deep dark and flavorful gorgeous color. This recipe is perfect to make for Thanksgiving!

Ingredients

  • 12 oz bag of cranberries
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp orange juice
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/8 tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt and pepper optional

Instructions

  • Rinse the cranberries.  Place all of the ingredients into a sauce pan (except for the vanilla extract) over high heat and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat and cook on medium heat stirring occasionally. The cranberries will began to burst.
  • Cook uncovered and stirring for 10-15 minutes or until the sauce has thickened. Transfer to a bowl. Add the vanilla extract and mix well and let it cool completely.

Notes

Once the cranberry sauce cools off,  it will thicken up. The longer the cranberry sits the more it will thicken.
Feel free to use all sugar instead of maple syrup.

How to make Cranberry Sauce in Advance

To make this ahead of time, let it cool off then place the cranberry sauce in a container with a tight fitted lid. Reheat on low heat until warmed throughout or you can reheat it in the microwave.
