Jello

The lime jello in this Slime drink not only adds flavor but helps to give it a thicker, slime like consistency that the little ones will find totally irresistible. It’s super important that your water is boiling hot to make sure the jello dissolves, and that you mix it well to avoid any lumps. Don’t worry if your slime drink looks too watery when you first mix it. It’s the chilling process that thickens it up and gives it that slime like effect.

For a vegan option, there are a number of gelatin-free jello brands on the market although you may need to look online to find them.

Food Coloring

The color of this Slime Punch is green, However, the addition of yellow food coloring will make it extra vibrant and give it a little wow factor that’s perfect for a party. Start off slowly when adding food coloring as a little goes a long way. You can always add more, but you can’t take it away.

Alternatively, if you don’t care for a green slime drink, you could create a bloody red look by using cherry jello and soda. The colors should be bold enough that you won’t need food coloring at all, although of course the end result will taste very different.

Decoration

There are plenty of ways you can decorate your slime drinks to amp up the Halloween scares. Try wrapping some fake cobwebs around your glasses or pitcher, or experiment with spooky straws and other Halloween table decorations.

For a decorative touch to your slime drink, that’s also edible, you could make your own ‘eyeballs’ out of frozen canned lychees stuffed with a maraschino cherry.

Slime Punch For Grown Ups

Halloween isn’t just for kids! If you are having an adults-only party you can make some boozy slime drinks. The citrus flavors work particularly well with vodka and white rum – just avoid any darker alcohol, as these will darken the bright green color and make the drink look murky.

Make kids slime punch

  1. Add the contents of the jello packet into a saucepan with boiling water and mix until all the powder is dissolved. This should take around 2 minutes.
  2. In the same saucepan, add the cold water and continue to mix, ensuring there are no lumps.
  3. Pour the jello mixture into a pitcher and add the soda and lemon juice.
  4. Add the food coloring a drop at a time until you achieve the desired color and chill the slime drink in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Notes

Slime Punch Color
The color of this Slime Punch is naturally green. You can ditch the food coloring if you prefer. However, the addition of food coloring will make it extra vibrant and give it a little wow factor that’s perfect for a party.
Start off slowly when adding food coloring as a little goes a long way. You can always add more, but you can’t take it away.

Sugar free option
Feel free to use a sugar free jello, however the flavor will not be the same.
Slime drink consistency
If necessary, thin out the drink after it’s has been chilled with more soda, water or lemonade. I usually add a bit more soda after it has chilled.
You can also experiment with different flavors of jello and or food coloring.
