It’s a good thing when sausages, vegetables and rice is prepared together in one skillet in under 10 minutes. No one will ever know that you only used a few ingredients to make this flavor
packed one skillet dinner.
My 4 year old really surprised me the other day but not in a good way. He apparently doesn’t like my singing voice. The other day, I asked him if he wanted me to sing a song. He covered his ears saying, “noooooooo.” Geez, way to hurt my feelings. Kids, I tell ya. Makes me wonder, Is my singing voice really that bad?? Maybe so, I guess, I’ll just stick to cooking.
Cooking has it’s pros and cons. I love everything about cooking except cleaning up and my lose of appetite. It also requires a good amount of taste testing. I swear, every time I cook, I always lose my appetite. I also think preparing the food plays into it too. So, while everyone is enjoying their meals I have to force myself to eat. I usually only take a couple bites then save it for later when I have my appetite back.
This one skillet baked sausage broccoli rosemary and garlic rice is so good. I didn’thave to taste test this recipe since I’ve made it a thousand times. I love cooking recipes like this, especially when I want something good and quick to prepare. Preparation time is about 5 minutes. Baking takes about 45 minutes. You’ll have a fulfilling hearty one pan dinner in under an hour. You can either split your sausage or slice them. I usually slice mine but this time I wanted to do something different so I split them instead. Also if you prefer a crunchier broccoli then add the broccoli about 30 minutes into baking.
12 oz package of your choice of sausages (about 4 sausages split them to make 8 )
1/2 tbs vegetable oil
2 cups of rice
4 cups of water (or chicken broth)
1 tbs rosemary and garlic seasoning
1 tbs better than bouillon chicken base (use it only if you aren’t using chicken broth)
2 cups of broccoli florets
2-3 tbs unsalted butter
salt for taste
pepper for taste
Add vegetable oil to a large pan over medium high heat. Once the oil starts to sizzle add the sausages and cook both sides until brown.
Remove sausages and set to the side.
Add the water, better than bouillon chicken base and mix. (If you are adding chicken broth there’s no need to add the chicken base or water)
Next add the salt and pepper and rosemary and garlic seasoning. Stir. Add the rice and spread evenly. Scatter the broccoli around the pan and then do the same with the diced butter. Lastly, arrange the sausages on top. Cover then carefully place the pan into the oven and cook for 45 minutes or until all the water has evaporated. Serve with a light salad and dinner rolls. Pretty easy huh? Told ya.

- 1 package good quality sausage (14oz)(package of 4 sausages split them to make 8)(I used Italian chicken sausages)Sliced sausages or chicken works fine also.
- 1/2 tbs vegetable oil
- 2 cups rice ( Do not use instant rice.
- 4 cups water
- 1 cup of broccoli florets or 2cups if your pan is big enough. *see notes.
- 1 tbs rosemary and garlic blend seasoning.
- 2-3 tbs butter
- 1 tbs Better than Bouillon Chicken Base
- salt for taste
- pepper for taste
- Add one tablespoon of oil to a pan over medium high heat. Once oil sizzles, add the sliced sausages open side down. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side. Remove from pan. Add the water, rosemary garlic seasoning, better than bouillon chicken base and rice. Add the diced butter. Arrange sausages on top of rice. Cover pan (aluminum foil work great). Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the liquid has evaporated.
I usually slice my sausages but this time I wanted to do something different so I split them instead. You can slice your sausages if you prefer. Also make sure to use a good quality sausage.
If you prefer a crunchier broccoli then add the broccoli about 30 minutes into baking.
