I never really cared for the pancakes I made. Each time I made them the more and more I hated them. I use to think to myself, how come these darn things never taste right? Something was missing from them. I remember as a kid, my grandmother use to make the best pancakes ever. I never knew what it was, she put in them that made them taste so amazingly perfect. They edges were crispy and the inside were soft and tangy and full of flavor, they were the perfect combination. Each bite of her pancakes ignited happy happy joy joy in me. I had to ask her one day what the heck she put in them. She mentioned she made them in a couple different ways. One ingredient she mentioned was buttermilk. I took down notes as she spoke and after the convo, I immediately wrote down some items to pick up from the grocery. One of the ingredients that stood out was buttermilk. I bought two for backup. I ended up getting some bananas from the grocery as well. I don’t know what it is, but this banana craze I’m having won’t go away,I remember growing up hating them, I still kinda do hate them raw but I love adding them to recipes. I ended up making my version of Banana Buttermilk Pancakes.
Guys, I’m so impressed with this recipe I gave myself an A+. I’m not bragging either. My teen knows my struggles with pancakes and he was my food tester. They were waiting for him when he got home from school. I gave him about 4 or 5 pancakes and as he was eating them, he asked me, “What is in these”? Anyone that knows my son, knows when he asks, what’s the ingredients, he is actually complimenting the food.
I told my son that they were homemade buttermilk banana pancakes. I even added some banana syrup on top. Mmm mmm mmm. My son thought they were great and now he wants me to make more this weekend.
This recipe was so simple. I added about 2 tbs of butter flavored Crisco shortening, buttermilk and one and half of a banana which I mixed first in my Nutri Bullet. Those are the only three unique ingredients in this recipe. All the other ingredients were pretty much the basic ingredients most people use when making homemade pancakes.
These pancakes weren’t complete without cheddar cheese eggs, turkey sausage and a glass of orange juice. Go on, make these pancakes, your family will eat them fast.
